Support Groups

Support Groups

We accept inquiries for our support groups year-round. In order to participate in a support group, you first need to have a one-on-one meeting with a trained volunteer bereavement facilitator.

  • Closed adult groups run for eight weeks for 2 hours each week.
  • The children's group runs for eight weeks for 1-1/2 hours each week.
  • Missing Pieces - a youth one-day workshop - is on a Saturday from 10AM- 4PM, and runs in the fall and spring.

Support Sessions

We accept inquiries for our support sessions year-round. The support sessions are offered in November to December, January to March and June to August.

A support session is a one-time 2-hour time slot on a particular date. You may come to one or more sessions. Friends and famiy may come with you for support. These sessions are ony for adults.

How To Support Children & Youth During Grief
  • We ask that you try and call to reserve a spot ahead of time.
  • Please arrive on time at 7pm.
  • These support sessions are open to any adult 18 years of age and older who is grieving the death of a loved one.
  • An initial 1 on 1 is not required before attending.
  • You may choose to come to one or more or all sessions listed above.
  • Each session is facilitated by two trained volunteer facilitators.
  • You may bring a friend or family member with you for support.
  • All sessions are held at our Newmarket office at 17070 Yonge Street.

As we are continually running these groups, the need for supplies is always constant. If you know of someone who could donate items like drinks, craft supplies, paper, labels or envelopes please call the office at 905-898-6265 or email bfoyr_program@bellnet.ca. We thank you for your generosity.
