Group Facilitator
|
Facilitator Training for Direct Support Volunteers happens in the fall and the spring.
Purpose: |
- To provide BFOYR clients with one-on-one and group facilitation support
|
| Outline of Responsibilities/Tasks: |
- Provide one-on-one support to bereaved individuals and families as referred by BFOYR staff
- Assist with the completion of one-on-one intakes for individuals entering BFOYR closed groups
- Co-facilitate closed support groups according to the agenda and guidelines supplied by BFOYR
- Assist with scheduled support sessions

| Outcome/Goals: |
- To promote the mandate of BFOYR by ensuring that appropriate and compassionate support is available to bereaved individuals and families.
|
| Training and Support: |
- Orientation to BFOYR programs and services, policies and procedures
- Completion of Facilitator Training program (35 hours). Call the office for more information.
- Opportunity to participate in additional training and development as offered by BFOYR.
- Availability of BFOYR staff and/or professional advisor to de-brief, provide support and guidance as needed

| Time Commitment:
|
- When we train our volunteers we try to ensure they have all of the necessary knowledge and skills in order to best support individuals who are grieving. Due to our investment in training our direct support volunteers, we ask you to make a 1-2 year commitment.
|
| Qualifications Needed: |
- Personal bereavement experience
- Interview with professional advisor and Bereavement Services Coordinator for acceptance into Facilitator Training
- Completion of a volunteer application form, signed confidentiality agreement
- Current Criminal Reference check (Vulnerable Sector)
|

Office Assistant |
| Purpose: |
- To provide BFOYR with general clerical assistance.
|
| Outline of Responsibilities/Tasks: |
- General typing, photocopying and filing duties
- Regular update of databases
- Assist with production of quarterly newsletters and other mailings
- Assist as needed with administrative requirements for special events
- Other tasks as may be discussed and mutually agreed upon
|
| Outcome/Goals: |
- To promote the mandate of BFOYR by ensuring that administrative tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
|
| Training and Support: |
- Orientation to BFOYR program and services, office policy and procedures
- Training for the tasks assigned
- Regular opportunity to give and receive feedback
|
| Reporting Structure: |
- Reports to the Bereavement Services Coordinator
|
| Time Commitment: |
- Flexible. A regular commitment of days and/or hours is preferred
|
| Qualifications Needed: |
- Completion of a volunteer application form, signed confidentiality agreement and interview with the Bereavement Services Coordinator
- Basis computer skills
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
|

| Marketing, Community Engagement & Funding Assistant |
| Purpose: |
- To provide support to the marketing, community engagement and funding initiatives (M/CE/F) events and public relations tasks
|
| Outline of Responsibilities/Tasks: |
- assist with telephone calls, provide information, etc. as it relates to the M/CE/F initiatives
- assist Program Coordinator with follow-up electronic and print materials for support and other related tasks
- interact and follow up with assignments with the community, businesses, media, etc.

| Outcomes/Goals: |
- to promote the M/CE/F initiatives asa defined by BFOYR in support of the organization's programs and services (which supports clients through the nine area municipalities within York Region).
|
| Training and Support: |
- orientation and overview of BFOYR programs and services as well as specific M/CE/F events, campaigns and initiatives, time lines, goals, etc.
- specific training re: individual M/CE/F activities
- BFOYR welcomes regular opportunities to give and receive feedback

- primarily report to Community Engagement & Funding coordinator
