Volunteer with Us
Our organization provides vital support and resources to individuals who are navigating the grieving process after the loss of a loved one. We offer a variety of services, including one-one-one sessions, support groups, educational workshops, and other resources to help individuals find hope and healing in times of loss.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives and help them through one of the most challenging experiences they may face. You may assist with tasks such as organizing events, facilitating support groups, providing administrative support, bingo support or simply offering a listening ear to those who need it.
At the Bereaved Families of Ontario - York Region, we value our volunteers and strive to provide a fulfilling experience that is both rewarding and beneficial to those we serve. We offer training and orientation to ensure that our volunteers are equipped to provide the best possible support to individuals and families in need.

Available Positions
Requirements

18 year old or higher

Experience the grief of loved one

Compassion, Non-Judgemental and Empathy: Volunteers should have a genuine desire to help others and the ability to empathize with individuals who are experiencing grief and loss.

Confidentiality: Volunteers may have access to sensitive information and should be able to maintain strict confidentiality and respect the privacy of clients.

Availability: Volunteers should be able to commit to a regular schedule and be dependable in their attendance.

Volunteers will receive a certification after six months of volunteering

Bingo Volunteers will receive a honourarium of $25
Application Process

Attendence for a full-day training is required.

You will shadow and co-facilitate groups with our trained volunteers.

Your journey as a volunteer at the Grief Healing Support Centre will begin.
8
Volunteers over six month of service will receive certification of recognition.
Note: Bingo Volunteers do not need to complete online and in-person volunteer training
